Other than a car seat, cheap baby cribs are probably the most important pieces of baby furniture that will need to be purchased for your baby. Often times a newborn will use a cradle or bassinet but after the first month until the child is around two years old or even older, the child will be in a crib. One can be purchased for around $400 but often times you can get cheap baby cribs for about $200.
The great thing about baby cribs today is that manufactures are making what is referred to as 3-in-1 cribs. This means the crib is actually 3 beds all in one. These types of cribs are often labeled as convertible cribs.

At first the crib will be used as it’s initial intention of just a crib. Once the child is older the sides of the crib can be removed and the mattress lowered to just off the ground. Now the cheap baby cribs transformed into a toddler bed. This toddler bed uses the same crib mattress and obviously the crib sheets which really cuts down on cost to provide for your youngster. Now once the child outgrows the crib you could simply put them in an adult sized bed, but the toddler bed is a great way to transition from a crib to a big bed. Children often feel overwhelmed by the huge full size bed and parents are sometimes nervous about the young one falling out of bed. The toddler bed helps to get the child used to sleeping with out the security of the crib rails. Since it is close to the ground it is a much safer alternative to the big adult size bed.

Once the child is comfortable in the toddler bed and consistently stays in the bed the entire night, the little one is probably ready to sleep in the full size bed. The 3-in-1 bed is then transformed into a double bed. One long side of the crib is attached to a bed frame and then becomes the headboard. The bed frame, box spring and mattress would have to be purchased separately. Although this is an additional cost, in the end it will actually save money since there would be no need to buy a headboard when the time came for the young child to sleep in the adult size bed. This crib could essentially be the only bed you would have to buy for the entire life of your child. This headboard could very well go along with them to college and well into adulthood. It could even be used once they are married and have a family of their own. If they choose to buy a master bedroom set of their own the headboard from their crib could be used in the guest bedroom. Although searching for cheap baby cribs is possibly a big task, it may be one of the smartest things you will ever do.
